For the improvement of the Biody Xpert device, a professional impedance meter, the company Aminogram called on Picodev.

The Biody Xpert, a device allowing quick health monitoring thanks to a multifrequency measurement system, used in dietary monitoring and fitness coaching, came into Picodev's hands in 2023. The goal of this new version of the Biody Xpert was to improve communication between it and the dedicated applications allowing data collection. Indeed, the measurements are collected by smartphone, MAC, or PC applications. The medical device uses the PIC18 coupled with a PAN1026A chip allowing Bluetooth communication. The team had to adapt to this hardware to then prepare the product's evolution.

To improve the device’s operation, Picodev created and integrated a new

BLE communication protocol into the FW of the Biody Xpert, the device from Aminogram.

To meet this request, Picodev created a BLE data exchange protocol with a specific profile. To comply with medical device requirements, the security of exchanges was studied and integrated into the new version of the FW. This allowed reliable and secure exchanges thanks to an encryption protocol specific to Biody. Then the overall structure of the old FW underwent a redesign to be improved and to facilitate future evolutions. During development, the team also created a test application under Ionic to verify the new functionalities of the Biody Xpert.
