Picodev unlocks the Totem Mobi system
Who has never dreamed of having a car available at any time in self-service, with free and unrestricted parking? Totem Mobi made this dream possible thanks to a mobile app enhanced by Picodev.

You may have already seen them on La Canebière or the Corniche Kennedy in Marseille, or near the Agora in Montpellier. These quirky cars – Renault Twizy – have been available for self-service 24/7 by Totem Mobi since 2013. Before Picodev’s involvement from 2015 to 2018, these small electric vehicles still started with a badge that had to be passed over a control box installed on the dashboard. But today, that technology is no longer enough. Totem wanted to integrate a mobile app allowing vehicle start via Bluetooth from a smartphone. While the Picodev teams did not develop the app themselves—it was entrusted to a developer Picodev connected with Totem Mobi—they worked on integrating the Bluetooth part within it.

Picodev revises the overall system architecture
Over time and through usage, other needs emerged and new features appeared. A trusting relationship having been established, Totem Mobi entrusted Picodev with revising the overall system architecture. After initially completely redesigning the reservation system, Picodev then integrated the car/server/mobile app connection part, and modified the payment mode (prepayment instead of billing at the end of the month). Following Totem Mobi’s instructions, the team also coded the business logic (bonus/malus system for charging and account top-up), developed a debugging app, and built the BLE (Bluetooth Low Energy) library.
